Information about general Key Club activities
KEY CLUB IS DEDICATED TO GIVING OUR MEMBERS OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE POSITIVE IMPACTS ON OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS INSTILL THE VIRTUE OF SERVICE. OUR MAIN GOAL THIS YEAR, HOWEVER, IS TO UNITE STUDENTS FROM THE IB AND MAJOR PROGRAMS IN FRIENDSHIP THROUGH SERVING OTHERS. WE HAVE THESE SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK, AS WELL AS WEEKEND PROJECTS.
Teen Trendsetters:
Every Tuesday, a group of our members walks to the nearby Lake Forest Elementary School. Members become mentors for elementary students, promoting reading comprehension with each of their respective children.
Key Performers:
This is a quarterly event; we host this event every now and then. Members meet at a nursing home and perform for the elderly. Previous performances include dances, singing, and instrumentals.
Ronald McDonald House:
Once a month, Key Clubbers meet at the local Ronald McDonald House. The mission of Ronald McDonald House is to directly improve the health and well being of children. It is a charitable organization dedicated to providing lodging for those families whose children are being treated at the regional hospitals. Our club buys the food and cooks breakfast for these families, as well as help out wherever we can around the house. It is an amazing experience and super FUN. No cooking skills required :)
Alachua County Humane Society:
Every month members volunteer at the local animal shelter. We work with the cats and dogs. This is a great opportunity to bond with animals that need love.
The Parent Academy:
It used to be HIPPY. Now it's expanded because the school board has taken it over. There are various activities that occur throughout the year. As the parents take their parenting classes, Key Club helps run events for the children. We did night of the stars recently where we helped kids look at the stars through telescopes. Basically you're working with kids. Great activity!

Besides these regular activities, Key Club also brings its members many other service opportunities around the city and country. Besides serving the local area, we also seek to promote a more open and supportive community within our own school. We work hard to make sure our members can become impactful and productive citizens, as well as positively influencing others around them.
